Ball Valves versus Gate Valves

When faced with an emergency, time is often of the essence. Ball valves have proven to be much more dependable and longer lasting. Most plumbers have learned to distrust gate valves because repeated use tends to wear them out. Also, it is not uncommon for a gate valve to simply become frozen or fused in the valve body. Although the handle may turn, the actual mechanism ceases to seat. Furthermore, many people have a tendency to over-tighten the valve to ensure that the water is completely shut off. This causes damage to the internal components of the valve and can prevent the valve from stopping the water flow completely. Upgrading gate valve stops with ball valve stops is well worth the small investment to do so.

Client Testimonials

Alice

I just want to thank you for sending James to us. He has been to our house several times and my husband (Nigel) and I have complete confidence in him. We live in a 100 year old home here in Elgin and, as you can imagine, there are things that periodically go wrong with our plumbing. James is a true professional who works tirelessly and intelligently to repair whatever is giving us problems. His explanations are clear and concise and, no matter how messy the work is, he stays upbeat and leaves a clean work area. We always ask for James by name because we know that the quality of service will be excellent. Thanks Again, Alice
